Simple Dictionary and Interlingua

Primary resource type: Lexicons:Verb; Other resource tags: Dictionaries; Resource language: English; Availability: Public; Sponsor: Chris Daniel

The Simple Dictionary™ is a defining language and classification system designed for use by Lexicographers developing dictionaries for English Language Learners, and for use by those in the Natural Language Processing field as an Interlingua. The Dictionary uses a 430 word defining language, or Interlingua to define all of the words in Standard English and was inspired by CK Ogden’s valiant, but ultimately failed attempt to create Basic English as a tool for English Language Learners. A system description, the defining language, and 10,500 verb definitions using Simple™ are listed at: http://www.simpledictionary.com. (55)
