Dictionary Development Process

Primary resource type: Tools and software:Dictionary software; Other resource tags: None; Resource language: Not language-specific; Availability: Public; Sponsor: SIL International

The Dictionary Development Process (DDP) uses a set of tools and techniques designed to facilitate the development of dictionaries for minority languages. At the heart of the program is a list of semantic domains that can be used to collect words, classify a dictionary, and facilitate semantic research. Currently DDP can be used to collect a large percentage of the vocabulary of a language. There are also tools that can be used to develop a word list into a full dictionary. (30)
